I just finished attending a webinar by Eric Ward, the industry’s leading guru on link building, with the same title as the title of this blog. It was free and informative, but to me didn’t offer a whole lot in the way of new approaches or “secrets.” The one interesting thing he did was to categorize links by those that help you achieve search engine ranking and those that bring you visitors to your site.  Each is useful, and if you’re really lucky and can get linked to by a trusted site, you can achieve both results with one link. One example he singled out was Forbes magazine’s Web reviews, on which, if you have great content and a lot of luck, you can convince the editors to include your site, you’ll get a higher page rank (probably) and many more visits (for sure).
Eric’s presntation will be available for viewing on Search Marketing Now in a day or two. It’ll be worth a visit.
