PC Decrapifier to the Rescue

When you buy a new PC these days (not a Mac, but a PC), generally speaking it comes loaded with what are called craplets, trial software programs featuring everything from Microsoft Office to Norton Security to every Tom, Dick and Harry program out there.  You either have to live with the stuff while it keeps bugging you to buy or somehow bite the bullet and spend the hours necessary to uninstall the programs (unless you actually want to buy them, which is always a simple task compared to uninstalling them).

The craplets are like spam but equate to money for the PC manufacturers loading them onto your new purchase and, of course, potential money to the software manufacturers if you buy their programs.

To the rescue comes a free program called PC Decrapifier.  I haven’t tried it since I don’t plan on purchasing a new PC for a while, but the program looks promising in that it automates and thereby simplifies the process of uninstalling these “free” trials.  A word of caution, however:  If you use PC Decrapifier, make sure you don’t delete something you actually need.  Read the instructions and the set-up carefully.
