I’ve noticed that a lot of the people praising the products on these webfomercials are affiliates who sell the very same products in their e-mails or on their sites. It’s a game that goes back and forth. All that being said, why fight success? If you want to make money on the Internet, you’d better start keying in on what succeeds, and long copy is a big help in achieving a high conversion rate (percent of visitors to your site who actually purchase something). Long copy is also a darling of the searchbots provided it’s not duplicate copy, which is what a lot of these affiliate ad pages are. The product’s original ad is often endlessly repeated by every Tom, Dick and Harry who wants to cash in on so-called Web riches. Take this to heart, however. The first two principles that Michael Cheney teaches on his video marketing series is that you must have both affiliates and your own product to sell to hit the big time. If you haven’t viewed Michael’s Traffic Videos, they’re a must. (I’ll cover getting your own product in a future blog post.) Remember, long copy rules–people trust you more, believe it or not, if you have a lot to say, and it gives them more time to feel comfortable and push the “buy ” button.
