Tired of spam?  You may be getting less of it now that the Feds have locked away a Seattle man accused of running a network of "zombie" computers to send out millions of pieces of spam e-mail each week.

Robert Alan Soloway, 27, is the man behind bars facing multiple charges, including–catch this one, it’s neat–identity theft.

Why ID theft?

The technique that Soloway allegedly used to build his spam empire involved taking over other people’s computers through malware (or a virus, however you like to call it).  By taking over other people’s computers, he thus took over there identity, the Grand Jury indictment maintains.

The "zombie" computers, presumably strung around the world, were used to transmit the spam, but these e-mails often directed people back to Soloway’s firm, Newport Internet Marketing, which then offered to send out 20 million e-mails for $495.
