Vertical Searches Combined in New Google Model
Most people are blissfully unaware that Google has many search engines beyond the generic google.com. Books, videos, blogs, catalogs–all these and more have vertical, or specialized, search engines operated by Google.
Many simply add a word before google.com in the URL, such as scholar.google.com, but others use other naming devices. However, they are all now being brought together under Google universal search, which will search for the most relevant results for your keywords in its 14 vertical engines as well as its generic one and then post all on the SERP (search engine result page).
I’ve written about this previously, but if you want to view and use the Google vertical search engines, please click on to the next page. This list provides links to Google’s vertical, or specialized, search sites:
- Blog Search
- Book Search
- Catalogs
- Code Search
- Directory
- Finance
- Images
- Local/Maps
- News
- Patent Search
- Product Search
- Scholar
- Video
- Web Search
