I’ve been reading articles here and there that Google intends to go wireless. Details are sketchy and sometimes contradictory, so everything from a free cell phone (underwritten by paid advertisers) to some sort of Web-enabling mobile device seems to be in the works.
Rumor also has it that the Googlian wireless initiative may begin in Europe because of a strategic partnership there, but the company is already working with the FCC for "packaged bidding" for airwave licenses. "Packaged" means that Google, or whoever, could bid on a set of nationwide airwave licenses all at once instead of singly.
