Nothing New Under the Sun
I read some reports emanating out of the SEMNE (Search Engine Marketing New England) confab that recently concluded, including one by Jill Whalen of High Rankings, one of the more reputable voices in the SEO world.
Now, other than there being a new tag you can use called unavailable_after, which will tell Google to quit indexing a page after a certain date, I’m not sure that what I read from this conference unearthed any secrets.
The guest speaker was a gentleman named Dan Crow from Google. Admittedly, he’s not the infamous Matt Cutts upon whose every word the future of those in the SEO industry hangs, but he came to SEMNE with high insider recommendations and authoritative credentials from previous conferences and interviews.
So if you want to get better SERP results, what strategies should you use according to Mr. Crow (as interpreted by others)?
Let’s see–build content-rich sites and get high quality incoming links from reputable sites.
Other suggestions–get rid of Flash and Ajax and clean up your html.
I guess we just have to hear these things enough times before they sink in and we start employing them.
