With Apple’s introduction of a new line of super-thin iMacs that can run both Mac OS and Windows OS, the Cupertino-based company is angling for its half of the cyberworld from the hardware side.
The software side for now belongs mostly to Microsoft, but that could change.
However, the invisible side, for lack of a better term, clearly belongs to Google, which is intent on talking over everything in the webisphere, from how you find what you want to how you get the Internet delivered to you (with its hoped-for purchase of airwaves from the FCC).
Google also hopes to pipe free software down to your computer and challenge/put out of business Microsoft. It already offers a Web-based word processor and spreadsheet program that is quite powerful.
So in the end, you may live in an iWorld powered by Google.
Is that scary or something to be embraced?
