eBay to Ban Digital Product Sales

I was first alerted to this by John Thornhill in the United Kingdom, but it appears that eBay will ban any type of digital sale on it site beginning March 31, 2008.  This is no doubt due to so many shysters and other abusers and violators ripping off eBay customers, or at least providing products that led to beaucoup complaints from eBay users.

Understood, as a lot of the eBooks available online are rehashed junk, so I can definitely see eBay’s viewpoint.

Now, digital products include more than eBooks, according to eBay, stretching the gamut from videos to books to audio files and even to domain names.

In short, if you want to sell something digital (downloadableand not tangible, in other words) on eBay, you’re going to have to put it on a CD and mail it to the purchaser.

The way I see it, this really opens up a whole new opportunity for people offering informational products that truly do have value.  I view this is a real positive.

It’s just sad how a few scammers ruin it for the majority of the honest population! It looks like the digital delivery idea wasn’t in our ‘plan’. There’s plenty of new lucrative opportunities ahead for us all…
