StomperNet Introduces SSS–Buyer Beware!
Everybody and his brother in the "list" business regarding SEO is e-mailing said list with what’s supposed to be revolutionary news about StomperNet’s new software program called Stomper Site Seer (SSS).
SSS does a lot of things, such as measuring your backlinks, Alexa rank, keyword utilization and so on. After you sit through a 37-minute introductory video, you’re told the program is free.
"Wow, great!" I thought. "I can download that and check all my sites and tune them up."
But hold your horses.
It’s a Web-based program that you get to use EXACTLY ONCE! Then, you have to pay StomperNet a monthly fee.
Now, if you have just one site and you want to check it once, there’s nothing with this arrangement–except the video recommends that you run the program frequently so you can gauge how well your site is doing as you tweak it according to their recommendations.
Bottom line, this program should be called "$$$" instead of "SSS."
Meanwhile, you can go to my free SEO tools page and do the exact same tune-up tests FOR FREE, FOREVER.

Wow – that’s harsh. We restricted users to a single URL for the first 24 hours to give the onslaught a chance to get access to the tool.
At 5pm today, we do our first relaxation of the restriction to allow 5 per day.
By the end of next week, it will be 50 per day.
And that’s ALL on the web site.
So, I think calling it $$$ is not only inaccurate, it’s irresponsible. And Buyer-Beware? They don’t have to buy anything.
Maybe you could say “User – Take Note: During the first 24 hours of release, the authors are restricting the tool use so that all comers can get at least one reports out of it. According to a statement from their CEO, they plan on lifting those restrictions once the initial surge of demand dies down.”
Because that would be the truth.
